Celebrating African fashion at the Lagos fashion and design week (LFDW)

The Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) 2016 is a celebration of the ingenuity of African fashion. Heineken is the flagship sponsor of this year’s event christened “Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week”.

The Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2016 is slated to hold on the 26th to 29th of October, 2015 at the Federal Palace hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Themed 'Connecting the Dots' , the Lagos Fashion and Design Week aims to create a conducive environment for fashion buyers, designers, fashion lovers, models, and journalists from the world over to network.

LFDW founder, Omoyemi Akerele noted at a Press cocktail for LFDW that for the year, the team "is looking beyond fashion to exploring other ways to make the business profitable without compromising on quality".

The LFDW has over the years featured the current collections of top and upcoming African designers.
Fashion enthusiasts hoping to see the top five upcoming designers this year have been touting Tokyo James as the number one contender, we will have to wait to see.

What to Wear : Fall Wedding

Weddings are one of my favorite events to attend. When I attend them, I always try my best to look Fabulous, but not appear over dressed, so to speak.
As I have a few weddings to attend this fall, I have been shopping for looks that are perfect for both the fall, and the occasion. In doing so, I found this absolutely stunning dress by Marco De Vincenzo , which is currently on sale for half the price.
I think it would go beautifully with the Velvet Braided Ankle Strap sandals, by the same designer.
As the dress has a lot of WOW factor, I would personally wear minimal accessories, to let it stand out.

Hey Lovelies,

I have a secret... I love fringe! But wait, you all knew that already! It was definitely love at first sight when I saw this Fringe Skirt. I wore it out to dinner with the hubby, while we were in The Maldives. I love the way it sways from side to side with each step. The color was also definitely a win win for me. I paired it with a V- neck blouse for a simple, yet chic look.

I decided to add a pop of color with these fun pair of fringe sandals , which I previous styled Here, and a similar colored Crossbody bag.

One of the Trends I have been loving for fall is the Velvet Trend. Seen on runways at fashion shows, and being rocked by various fashionistas, it has slowly won my heart. I will be rocking a lot of them this fall.

In addition to Velvet, I am also really feeling Embroidered Shoes. I get completely smitten if they are Velvet and Embroidered.

Just as much as all things Velvet, I currently have a few embroidered shoes on my Lust list. Below are a few of them.

Besides the summer, my next favorite weather is Autumn/ Fall. I like that it is not too hot or too cold. Another things that is great about the fall is that you can layer some of your summer pieces to get the perfect fall look.

For this look, which I wore for date night, I went for something fun, especially with the sweat shirt and colorful sandals.
