Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had an awesome thanksgiving? This year, I have so much to be thankful for; First off I am thankful for good health and the gift of life. That is something, that is easily taken for granted. However, being a doctor has taught me to always appreciate good health and being alive. I am also thankful for completing my residency in Family Medicine this year, and passing the Family Medicine boards. It seemed like an endless journey and I am glad it has finally come to an end.

I am also extremely thankful for marrying my best friend, KC. That was definitely the highlight of my year, and so far, the best day of my life! I am also thankful for my friends and family who through the years have supported, prayed for, and been there for me through all the ups and downs of this journey called life.

Most importantly, I am beyond thankful for all of you who support me and my blog. For all your love, comments, and messages of encouragement. I appreciate you all!

While traveling is for a variety of reasons, traveling to explore the unknown is an experience that is exhilarating. Besides being a way to pass time, just the realization there are hundreds of  tourist destinations in Africa, should be enough to awaken the explorer in you.

Over the years it has become quite normal for a guy to travel solo, on the other hand the female lone traveler isn’t as common and evokes worry. Clearly society perceives solo female travelers as easy preys, species who could easily be in danger.

Nowadays the ladies are taking the plunge into the world of the lone traveler, we salute them and offer them a few safety tips below.

Dressing up

The way you dress creates your first impression; things always go right when you come off as smart and confident. A hint of weakness could make you a target when traveling, dressing provocatively or extravagant could create an experience you would like to forget.

Dress for the occasion, when in Rome dress like the Romans; when visiting a conservative place observe the people, you wouldn’t like to be the only one wearing a bikini at the beach. Blending in with the locals when visiting metropolitan areas, dress comfortably with light attires. If your trip involves a lot of exploring on foot, wear comfortable flats, loafers or sneakers.

If you didn't know, Nordstrom has been having their Clearance Fall Sale for the Last few days. With the sale going on, I was able to get some of the things on my wish list, at a discount. I mean if you think about it, who doesn't love a great deal?

Unfortunately, the sale ends today. The great thing about Nordstrom is that they have a variety of things, from affordable to very high end, so that makes it convenient for everyone to shop there, no matter your budget.

Oh did I mention that they have a lot of items that make great gifts, so if you are shopping for Christmas gifts, it will be a great place to look.

Hey Lovelies,

I hope you are having an amazing weekend? I always feel like I spend the most amount of money in November, December, and January. I was thinking about it today, and it finally really occurred to me why this is case; the endless sales going on through to January. Every time I open my email, there is some sort of sale going on. Before, I know it, I am curiously browsing the website, and next thing you know, much to my hubby's chagrin (story for another day), I have a cart full of items!
I usually feel the initial rush of guilt after I buy them, but once I receive the items and try them on, that guilt leaves faster than I can say "Shopaholic!".
We all know that this is also the season for Thanksgiving, black Friday and all the Christmas and Holiday Sales, so the markdowns are a great bait for people like me who like to shop at a Bargain, even though we don't necessarily need all that we buy, but please, don't judge me!

Another reason why this is a high shopping season for me is that I usually travel to Nigeria for Christmas, so from shopping for myself, to buying gifts for friends and family back home, it all adds up! Most times I end up buying and packing so much clothes and shoes, and when I get to Nigeria, I only wear a handful! After spending hours and days stressing about excess baggage from all the things I have bought, and have to carry with me. Every year I tell myself, "Next year I am not packing this many clothes!", but when the following year comes, I am suddenly hit with the feeling of 'what if I have somewhere to go and I have nothing to wear?' Then I find myself "stuffing" my luggage up with those "emergency ensembles."

We are practically at the end of the year, and I can't believe how fast the year flew by. November is usually one of my favorite months because I get to eat a lot of food at Thanksgiving, and go shopping after ( for Black Friday). You cannot beat that combination!

I have a secret... I love fringe! But wait, you all knew that already! It was definitely love at first sight when I saw this Fringe Skirt. I wore it out to dinner with the hubby, while we were in The Maldives. I love the way it sways from side to side with each step. The color was also definitely a win win for me. I paired it with a V- neck blouse for a simple, yet chic look.

I decided to add a pop of color with these fun pair of fringe sandals , which I previous styled Here, and a similar colored Crossbody bag.

One of the Trends I have been loving for fall is the Velvet Trend. Seen on runways at fashion shows, and being rocked by various fashionistas, it has slowly won my heart. I will be rocking a lot of them this fall.

In addition to Velvet, I am also really feeling Embroidered Shoes. I get completely smitten if they are Velvet and Embroidered.

Just as much as all things Velvet, I currently have a few embroidered shoes on my Lust list. Below are a few of them.

The talented designer, Christian Louboutin, has extended his brand to include three (3) new fragrances which are inspired by the exotic, passion, love and adventure.

The new fragrances include Bikini Questa Sera, Tornade Blonde, and Trouble in Heaven are all Eau de Parfum, come in 80ml, and are all for women. They cost about 215 pounds ( $275 USD).

Hey Lovelies!

I hope you are having an amazing week so far? As we know, planning a wedding can be really stressful. Especially if you haven't been around friends or siblings who planned a wedding. I am so relieved that our White Wedding is over. It was quite stressful for me, considering I was rounding up with residency, studying for my Family Medicine boards, and planning a wedding in London, from the States all at once. At a point, I became extremely overwhelmed! I even lost 12 pounds the week before the wedding. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all negatives: I met so many amazing people, got even closer to my friends and sister, and bonded a lot with the hubby.

Planning our wedding, in no way, made me a professional wedding planner, but after planning a Wedding for 350 guests, I can definitely tell you a thing or two that will definitely be helpful. I had a Wedding planner, but I still had to do most of the work myself. A lot of my friends were helpful with giving me tips, but I had to learn a lot of things along the way myself.  Looking back, these were the most helpful for me, or at least things I wish I knew!

I am going to start this post by saying that my friends rock!! Before, during and after our wedding, I got a lot of great gifts from my friends, especially during my bridal shower. I had 2 surprise bridal showers, one in New Jersey and one in London. It was hard to believe that I fell for the second one, after they got me on the first one. But they did! LOL
I couldn't believe how extremely thoughtful a lot of the gifts were, besides the usual lingerie, and get-your-freak-on type of gifts! Which I also loved by the way! Haha.

It usually takes me forever to figure out what gift I would like to give my friends and family, and most times, I have to start thinking about them centuries in advance. So if you are like me, and you can not think of what gift to give a friend who is about to tie the knot, then here are a few gift ideas to get you started. She would definitely appreciate them!

No one foresaw the economic state of the country today after the change we so desperately sought in the country was handed down to us. We were quick to forget that our value system has become so warped and clung to a wishful clandestine plot of the government to transform our economy miraculously.

We chose to believe things couldn’t be so bad, since we were considered the largest economy in Africa, an oil rich country, the purported giant of Africa, but alas, the cost of living has skyrocketed in recent times, the fuel queues wouldn’t disappear, there was no hope in getting PHCN to turn on power for at least 20 mins in a week, the heat emanating from the sun rays has become unbearable, well-paying jobs have become scarce and the foreign exchange rate has become heartbreakingly high.
Rather than rely solely on the government for the change we so need, I believe healthy scepticism is
very necessary for survival.

Hey Loves!

Happy New Month! I am partly excited about this month, and partly not.
I am excited because it is my birth month, so I will have a birthday soon (March 29th) and it is one month closer to my wedding date. Woohoo!
I am not so excited because I have my Family Medicine Board exam next month, so my stress levels are gradually rising! Please keep me in your prayers!
